2023 Collaroy Tennis Club Championships

It has been a marvelous start to the prestigious 2023 Collaroy Tennis Club Championships. Some of the regular tour big guns may be missing, but this means we have an opportunity to crown some new doubles champions this year.

On 21 October, saw the continuation of the Women’s and Men’s Doubles with some amazing talent on show. Pocket rockets (Anna C and Anita), father and son team (Mike B and Greg) and the talented (Lynne and Anna G) had some great wins on the day to name just a few of the plethora of talent on show.  In another tight contest, Kenny and Glenn managed to get through 8-5 over seasoned doubles pairing of Brendan and Hunter, with a large gallery supporting both teams seeing a hard-fought entertaining match.

Last Saturday 28 October, further great results came from the continuation of the Club Championships Mixed Doubles competition. Some stand-out results were Kelly and Mike B who won both their matches 8/0, 8/0 in a dominant performance. Anna C and Kenny continued their run with 8/1, 8/3 victories. Special mention must go to new members Samantha, Lavinia, Michela and Felicia, to name a few, who are all competing in their first championship with great enthusiasm, skill and sportsmanship.

Stayed tuned for upcoming events with the continuation of the mixed doubles this Saturday. Look out for the draw and schedule on the Collaroy Tennis Club website. The Open Women’s & Men’s singles, Masters and of course our young-gun Junior events are coming up very soon.

Who will go through to the Semis (25 November) and who will go up on the great Collaroy honour board for 2023? Finals Day and the end-of-year Christmas celebrations will be held on Saturday 9 December, in what surely will be a spectacular day! It really is wide-open this year, in the most exciting Championships ever.
