The Collaroy Tennis Club Championships are now at the finals stage and what a great day we have planned this Saturday. Unfortunately, we had to come up with a Plan B due to the extreme heat. The Club Christmas Party will start at 3:00 PM, which will include food, drinks and music! The Finals will now start from 4:00 PM.
What an amazing job by our event organisers have done, especially managing the draw, re-scheduling of matches and court allocations. Logistically it has been very challenging especially juggling record number of events and entrants, as well as some wash out days. However, in the end we got through so many matches, (well over 150) to now culminate in the finals this Saturday.
Special mention must also go to our amazing juniors. One of our finalists, Maiia, is just 11 years old. A future star, she has shown amazing skill and determination at such a young age. Truly amazing. We also had some other new young ones joining the club in the process, with this year’s championships combined as a UTR event. What a bright future Collaroy Tennis Club has! At the other end of the age spectrum, our new event “The Masters”, was another great show piece showing off the talents of some of our more experienced players.
A huge thank you to all the members who stayed and watched some of these great matches and also their patience during the reduced times for social play on some days, who supported so many matches from the spectator chairs while not playing themselves.
Overall, it has been a huge success so far and of course there will the presentation of trophies and prizes to our winners and runners as well as music, food and excitement for everyone at the Club’s Christmas celebration.
Will Chris Gillis win another title, will Eri Fawcett go the double in singles and doubles? Who will win our first Masters title? Who will be our junior champions? So many questions will be answered.
Don’t miss out for the climax this Saturday 9th December 2023 with finals starting at 4:00 PM.
See you there!
