Sunday the 29th of October saw the inaugural Collaroy Wheelchair Tennis Club Championships take place under sunny skies. There were lots of smiles and an unusual lack of ‘steely looks’ between competitors during the matches. Coach extraordinaire, Paula Gibson Roy, proudly watched on (attempting to restrain her coaching instincts) as Isla, Rafferty, Tallow & Oscar demonstrated their skills, knowledge and love of the game.
It was actually hard to tell who enjoyed the matches more, the players or the spectators? With displays of amazing athleticism, close line balls and the players pushing hard, there was a lot to cheer about!
A big congratulations to the Winners: Isla Gillespie – Open Singles and Oscar Doman – Junior Singles. The Runners Up were Rafferty Stevens & Tallow Ra, respectively. The Doubles Competition saw Isla & Oscar combine, to win an exciting match over Rafferty & Tallow.
