Catch up on what's happening at Collaroy Tennis Club

Big event raises funds for Lifeline Northern Beaches

On Friday evening, September 20, the new racquet and string sponsor of Evolve Tennis Academy, HEAD, conducted a FREE Tennis Experience at the Club, to which all members and friends were invited.

A crowd of over 100 including juniors, their parents and CTC members thoroughly enjoyed themselves as the Evolve coaches supervised a Junior Squad Showcase, Cardio Tennis and Pickleball on Court 4, while HEAD provided their full range of tennis racquets and pickleball bats for everyone to try. Every purchase on the night was heavily discounted, (Glenn picking up a brand new pickleball bat for a bargain!).

Highlight of the night was a raffle to raise funds for Lifeline Northern Beaches - the fantastic non-profit organisation that provides a free, 24-hour telephone crisis support service to those in need and literally saves lives. The organisation’s CEO and Northern Beaches Councillor, Sarah Grattan attended, speaking passionately at the presentation about their work and the need for funding to continue providing their vital services. (Sarah also proved a dab hand at pickleball!)

Philanthropy and Partnership Manager, Sandra Wiles and other staff also attended, making sure everyone bought a raffle ticket or two. Sandra sent through a note of thanks after the event, saying: “I just wanted to say thank you again to Evolve and Collaroy Tennis Club for involving us in your community event on Friday night. You had a lovely bunch of people attend and I believe every one of them supported our raffle and wanted to have a chat. It was also a great opportunity for us to generate more awareness about the role of Lifeline Northern Beaches in the community.”

Raffle prizes included a HEAD Tennis Pack including an Extreme MP racquet, balls, duffle bag and strings, local Gym memberships and pilates classes, and gift vouchers from Evolve valued at $1,000. There was also a lucky door prize - the piece de resistance really - a racquet bag personally signed by the one and only Ash Barty.

HEAD was represented by Sports Marketing Manager, Adam Dickie who made the trip from Melbourne to be there, NSW State Sales Manager Noel Dodds who drove down from the Central Coast and was effectively M.C. for the night, as well as other staff. Both Adam and Noel commented on how easy it was to deal with Evolve and CTC, commenting on the ‘can do’ attitude of both partners. They said that HEAD would be more than happy to be involved in future events at the Club.

CTC members Kate, Eric, Glenn, Dave, Damian and Wil all pitched in to lend a hand on the night, Eric deserving of special mention as ‘Tong Master’. He spent a full three hours cooking sausages and onions on the BBQ for a hungry crowd of adults and juniors.

All in all, this was a wonderful community event, topped off by an amazing fireworks display at Long Reef Golf Club, (which felt like it had been put on especially for our event). It was great for both Evolve and our Club to build and/or cement relationships with Council, Lifeline Northern Beaches and HEAD.
