2026 Sydney Badge
All current financial members are welcome to enter this year's Sydney Badge Competition starting 2 May 2026. Organised by Tennis NSW, Badge has a rich and storied history and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest and most successful team competitions. Tennis NSW will determine all team gradings. Your team will represent Collaroy, competing against other tennis clubs across the Sydney Metropolitan area.

ABOUT THE COMPETITIONS

Team Composition: 6-12 players per team

Format: 4 players each match, 8 sets of Doubles | Each player plays 4 sets of doubles

Day and Time: Saturdays with a start time of (11.30am or 12pm) or (2.20pm or 2.50pm)

Match Duration: Max. of 2 hours and 45 minutes | 2 courts used

Time for all Collaroy home matches: 12pm to 2.45pm
Number of rounds: 14 rounds (home & away matches) + 2 weeks for Finals -
Key Dates: First round: 2 May | 14th Round: 29 August | SF: 5 Sep | GF: 12 Sep

No competition play: June long weekend (6 June), July school holidays (4, 11, 18 July)

Team Gradings: Tennis NSW will determine grading based on player UTRs

Cost per team: $400 which includes provision of courts and balls if playing at the Club

Balls: to be provided by home team

Post-match food and drinks: home team to provide

Total Prize Pool: $15,000

Note: players are required to have a UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) and CPP (Competitive Player Profile) to play Badge. The Club can organise these for you.

Note: Due to court availability, the Club is limited to a total of 4 teams playing Home matches at Collaroy. If entries exceed capacity, the Selection Committee will review submissions and get in touch.

Summary of 2026 Changes • Removal of appeals - Grading decisions are final • Base Players per team to increase from 4 to 6 • Grading to be determined by top 6 Base Players by UTR • New Venue Capacity Form to replace email process • UTR upper limits only apply to Reserves, not Base Players • Removal of manual Badge UTR allocation • Removal of 'open' and 'closed' reserves • Registration in the reserve pool is optional • Reserve Players without a UTR require pre‑approval • Unspecified players in scorecard must be corrected by Friday 12pm • Player Substition: Retired player from 1st rubber can be replaced by a Base Player • Total prize money increased to $15,000
