On Sunday 17 August, the inaugural Collaroy v Bayview Inter-Club Challenge was hosted by our Club. This event extended the friendly rivalry between Northern Beaches Clubs after similar challenges had been held against Careel Bay Tennis Club.
20 players from each Club fought out a fun day's tennis across all 6 courts, with the overall winner determined by cumulative scores of games won. In this inaugural event, Collaroy emerged the winner with a total score of 271 games, against Bayview's 129.

Collaroy member Garry Matthew-Stubbs wore two hats, as he is also the President of Bayview and represented that club on the day. No doubt he'll learn from this experience and return to 'the Bright Side' next year (said 'tongue-in-cheek' Garry). Our Club Vice-Captain, Kenny, efficiently organised the event with aplomb.
After a hectic day's play, both teams retired to the clubhouse for a sumptuous feast prepared by 'Head Chef' Glenn R. His exquisite, commercially cooked sides of roast pork with crackling and roast lamb were complemented by delicious salads prepared by members Anna G., Maria and Kate. Bayview's contribution to the feast was a selection of delicious desserts including the President's famous Apple Crumble, a sticky date pudding (enjoyed to 'the last bite' by Collaroy's Geoff A.), pavlova and chocolate cake. Suffice to say, everyone went home having enjoyed 'an elegant sufficiency' of food and drinks.

At the presentation, Presidents of both Clubs - Garry and Vito - spoke of the camaraderie and good sportsmanship on display throughout the day and then Bayview Club Captain Ray, magnanimously handed the inaugural trophy to our own Club Captain Wil. 'Til next year Bayview.
