Meet the Nominees for the Collaroy Tennis Club Management Committee 2024-2025

DAMIAN GORMAN

Position Nominated: Treasurer

I have really enjoyed my time as a member of Collaroy Tennis Club since joining in 2020. I’d like to continue to support the Club in the capacity of Treasurer for 2024/25.

I see a bright future for the Club and the opportunity to make it even better for our members, coaching partner and the broader community.

I have served on the Committee for two years as Vice-Captain and for the past 12 months as Treasurer. Over the past two years we have been able to consolidate the Club’s financial position, and I believe we have made it financially sustainable for the future, which will allow us to offer our members a great tennis experience.

I have a background in Business and Finance and have always enjoyed transferring these skills in a volunteer capacity (as Treasurer) to my children’s schools (St Martins and St Aloysius College) as well as other Sporting associations (Wakehurst Little Athletics Club).

DAVE KEOGH

Positions Nominated: Management Committee Member & Selection Committee Member

I have been a club member for over 4 years and a member of the Management Committee for 3. Honoured to have been named 'Club Person of the Year' for 2023.

I have enlisted the skills and resources of the marketing agency I run with fellow member, Anna Cosio (Vida), to drive the brand refresh of the Club (new logo, signage, club merchandise, etc.), initiate new, contemporary and professionally designed communications and create blog articles and social posts.

This year, Vida also designed, developed and launched the Club’s new website and was also heavily involved in reviewing the Club Constitution and By-Laws - the first time these important documents had been appraised and revised in 30 years.

I have become the Club’s de facto ‘Inclusion Officer’, involved in organising the PRIDE events we run in conjunction with the AO as well as a major event for Sydney WorldPride in 2023 and the Rainbow Ready Clubs Program in conjunction with Tennis NSW. As a result, I was nominated by Tennis Australia as ‘Ally of the Year’ at the 2024 Australian Pride in Sport Awards and became one of only 4 finalists in the category, representing the Club at the Awards ceremony in Melbourne. I also sat on a ‘Diversity & Inclusion Panel’ held by T.A. at this year’s Australian Open.

I have been directly involved in organising Club social events such as our Grand Slam Socials. And though a long spate of injuries and health issues has precluded me from representing the Club in competition this year, I have remained a regular at Saturday Social and helped launch the new Sunday Social Sessions.

I have also assisted with grant applications and our two submissions to Tennis NSW for their annual Awards – hoping we win ‘Most Outstanding Club’ once more. I believe in Collaroy Tennis Club as a great place to play the sport we love in a friendly environment and if re-elected, am happy to serve on the Management Committee for a further 12 months.

GLENN ROBERTSON

Position Nominated: Management Committee Member

I joined Collaroy Tennis Club in 2020 and was immediately impressed by the friendliness of the members, the excellent facilities and the fact it was a great place to play both competitive and social tennis. Since then, I’ve actively welcomed new members to share that same wonderful experience. I am now eager to contribute more as part of the Management Committee for a second year.

Our club has shown a commitment to progress, consistently enhancing our facilities to create an even more enriching environment for every member and I have played a project management role in shaping its promising future. I have actively participated in several key projects within our club, notably the re-surfacing of Courts 2, 4 & 5 and the new bathrooms. I am therefore no stranger to the impactful changes that can arise from dedicated effort. I have had the privilege of lending my time to working bees, ensuring our club remains a well-maintained and inviting space for all.

I’ve been able to secure various appliances (‘fridge, oven and microwave) at a discounted rate for Collaroy Tennis Club, have represented the Club in the Sydney-wide Badge competition and helped run last year’s Rainbow Ready program in conjunction with Tennis NSW – all a testament to my determination to support the Club in any way I can.

With my background in Sales Management and General Management, including my role as Managing Director of a Commercial Appliances importing company, I bring to the table valuable expertise, experience and project management. Currently I serve as a dedicated Project Manager for reputable local company, Sydney Commercial Kitchens.

This experience has equipped me with the skills needed to effectively navigate complex initiatives. As a committee member, I am enthusiastic about continuing to leverage my experience, skills and passion to spearhead projects that align with the Club’s evolving vision. I am devoted to promoting a Club environment where growth and inclusivity are prominent goals, ensuring the Club continues to thrive. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to the opportunity to contribute further to our exceptional Club.

I have 30 years’ experience in the field of Human Resources, leading teams of HR professionals in high performing organisations for growth, through organisational and cultural change. In addition to developing talent management strategies to attract, develop and retain talent, I am passionate about developing trusted and inclusive cultures, where everyone thrives.

I am committed to the development of both myself and others, and currently hold a couple of volunteer roles with the Australian HR Institute.

Since joining Collaroy Tennis Club as a member in January 2021, I have sought to actively contribute to our membership and wider community. In August 2023 I joined the CTC Committee taking on the role of Member Protection Officer. In February 2024 I graduated from the Women Leaders in Tennis Program and am now part of a network across the NSW cohorts as well as a member of the inaugural NSW Member Protection Officer Network.

My goal is to leverage my professional experience and expertise, and my passions, for the benefit of CTC members and the wider community through growing the participation of women and girls in tennis, promoting the guiding principles of CTC and ensuring these are upheld at all times.

KATE BYRNE

Position Nominated: Secretary

I have served on the Collaroy Tennis Club Committee over the past 3 years, the last 12 months on the Executive Committee as Club Secretary. In that time, I have enjoyed the friendliness and inclusiveness our Club offers members, and it has been a truly rewarding experience working with our current Committee.

During my working career I have held secretarial roles in several companies giving me the capabilities and experience to handle the role of Collaroy Tennis Club Secretary.  I am currently a Strata Committee Secretary (7 years), and was previously the Secretary of Elanora Park Tennis Club - tenure completed in June 2023.

I believe the future provides a unique opportunity to automate the processes around the secretarial role at Collaroy. For example, we’ll be implementing live updates of membership, automated payments and receipts, better communication to members and faster processing of accounts. We will also establish an electronic storage point for all Committee members to ensure that all documentation can be leveraged for the future.  This will provide better orientation for future Committee members.

I currently hold a Working with Children Check (WWCC), which is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in a child-related environment. My role on the CTC Committee includes being the Ladies Social Tennis Co-ordinator and First Aid Officer.

KENNY MOYLE

Positions Nominated: Management Committee Member, Vice-Captain & Selection Committee Member

I have thoroughly enjoyed my participation and involvement in all aspects of being a Collaroy Tennis Club member since I joined in 2021 and a member of the Management Committee over the last 12 months. I have regularly provided support to our Club in helping set up and organise events such as AO Pride Night, the Grand Slam socials, the Junior Club Championships and last year’s inaugural Wheelchair Club Championships.

I have previously been involved in organising and running tennis camps and coaching while living overseas. Professionally, I am an experienced mediator and resolution specialist, currently working for the Financial Ombudsman Service (AFCA) and as such, offer a strong background in dispute resolution and writing detailed reports.

My aim is to continue using my relevant skills and experience, bringing these qualities to Collaroy Tennis Club, while being fair, transparent, respectful, proactive and friendly. My expectation is to continue to help provide a vibrant, enjoyable, and desirable tennis experience for all involved, while ensuring the long-term sustainability and success of Collaroy Tennis Club.

LAVINIA BOWIE

Position Nominated: Management Committee Member

For over 20 years, I’ve worked in management roles that involve organisational change and team leadership. My focus has been on bringing people together and supporting them through transitions in both private and public sectors. With an extensive background in HR and project management, I’ve always been passionate about helping individuals and teams to achieve their best, whether by improving workplace processes or fostering a more inclusive and collaborative environment.  I believe I can offer these skills and experience to benefit Collaroy Tennis Club.

Throughout my career, I’ve been involved in introducing technology to improve business operations and customer experience.  I believe that improving how we service members and patrons of the Club is a key to long-term success.  While I understand that technology may not always be a current priority, I believe that my experience in streamlining processes and enhancing customer experiences could support the Club, should it explore any future technological advancement.

I am also a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, having recently led a project to improve the engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse staff in Digital NSW. I’ve found that working with people from different backgrounds and creating a welcoming environment, benefits everyone involved, which is a value I know is shared at Collaroy Tennis Club.

I’m also comfortable with the administrative side of Committee work, such as organising events, managing communications, generally ensuring smooth operations (and even cooking the odd sausage roll!). I enjoy working in teams and my aim is always to contribute in a way that helps everyone have a positive and successful outcome. I believe that my skills in building strong relationships, coordinating projects and my commitment to inclusivity would allow me to make a meaningful contribution to the Club as a member of the Committee.

I’ve been passionate about tennis for many years and have always valued the sense of community and belonging that clubs like Collaroy offer. I’d be honoured to be a part of the Committee and look forward to supporting the Club’s mission in any way I can.

VITO CINCINNATO

Position Nominated: President

As President of Collaroy Tennis Club, my focus has been on developing and executing a strategic vision aimed at enhancing the tennis experience for members and boosting community engagement. The Club’s core values of Fun, Friendliness and Inclusivity have attracted a diverse range of tennis enthusiasts.

Building on the Club’s mission to provide quality facilities and diverse programs, efforts have been made to meet all player needs and promote broader participation. A professional and passionate committee has been fostered, leading in part to a doubling of the Club’s membership between 2021 and 2024.

Financially, there has been a remarkable improvement in the Club’s bank cash balance, growing from just $3,000 to $200,000 over seven years. Additionally, $23,000 in grants has been secured, and consistent support from government and corporate partners has been garnered. Excellent relationships have been maintained with Northern Beaches Council, including Mayor Sue Heins and Councillor Vincent De Luca, as well as state member for Wakehurst, Michael Regan MP.

Strong partnerships have been developed with Belle Property, Evolve Tennis Academy and our governing bodies, Tennis NSW and Tennis Australia, ensuring the Club’s continued growth and success. Through these efforts, Collaroy Tennis Club has become a fun, vibrant and thriving community tennis hub. I am pleased to have played my part in this progress and if elected, am happy to stay on as President for another year.

WIL JAUCO

Position Nominated: Club Captain

I joined Collaroy Tennis Club in 2013 and have since served the Club as a Committee member for one year and as the Club Captain for 9 years. As a member of the committed and hard-working CTC Committee, it’s wonderful to see many improvements at the Club, especially in the past few years.

I am honoured and proud to have led / contributed to the many positive changes, which have helped result in a doubling of club membership in just four years. The Club’s achievements have been awarded by Tennis NSW (Most Outstanding Tennis Club – Metro, 2021 and 2022) and Tennis Australia (Most Outstanding Tennis Club – Australia, 2022).

I’m very passionate about tennis and community involvement. I have been very active in tennis as

a fan, a player, Club Captain, Tournament Director, Club President and advisor with several tennis

clubs and related organisations. For three years I’ve been a member of Tennis Metro Sydney - an advisory committee, which provides advice to the Tennis NSW Board and management relating to key strategies for tennis in Sydney.

I have strong experience and an understanding of the challenges involved with the inclusion of communities from various backgrounds, abilities, ethnicity and gender orientation through my work with Tennis and with my profession.

I liaise between the Club and our coaching partner Evolve Tennis Academy. I work closely with

the head coaches (Ryan & Scott) and in 2018, helped revive junior participation (boys and girls) in competitions and Club Championships (after 41 and 37 years respectively,). Now, we have junior

members regularly participating in Club events, competitions and tournaments. I have also initiated a Youth Leadership Group at CTC, which will no doubt prove beneficial for years to come.

Despite Collaroy’s recent successes, we have more opportunities to grow and improve our beloved Club. I am a strong believer in ‘continuous improvement’. My corporate management experience is also valuable in helping the Club plan, implement and achieve its goals. I have accepted the nomination to remain as Club Captain for FY2024-25, as I know we have more exciting plans and projects in store for our Club and its members.
