The 2025 Junior Inter-Club Challenge between Collaroy and Careel Bay was held on Sunday, 21st September at Careel Bay Tennis Club... and our Collaroy juniors once again rose to the occasion!
This was the third annual challenge between the Clubs, and unlike results from the two senior versions of the event held so far in which Careel Bay remains undefeated, we’re thrilled to say that our Junior Team proudly flew the flag for our Club to make it a hat-trick of victories.
Both clubs fielded 12 players (24 in total), forming 6 pairings across two divisions to ensure balanced competition. Every pairing battled through three full-deuce sets, with every game counting toward the final tally.
And what a tally it was… the final score Collaroy 104 v Careel Bay 41!

The decisive result was proof that our juniors are not just turning up to play… they’re thriving!
Highlights of the Day
🏆 Best & Fairest (Collaroy): Joshua Tchou (as selected by Careel Bay)
🏆 Best & Fairest (Careel Bay): Max Cannon (as selected by Collaroy)
💪 Special mention to James Berling, Jai Mortimer, Finn Hellmirch & Ethan Hallet, who played out an epic 7–5 set, lasting nearly 70 minutes. That’s endurance usually reserved for Grand Slam thrillers!
Beyond the Scoreboard
The tennis was of high quality, but what really stood out was the sportsmanship shown by all players, all day. Every one of the 24 juniors gave it their best, while showing respect and encouragement to teammates and opponents alike.
This event also showcased the strength of both clubs' partnership with Evolve Tennis Academy, whose support continues to lift our juniors to new levels. And a special shoutout to Careel Bay’s Social Committee, who made sure no-one left hungry, with their legendary BBQ a highlight to finish the day.
This was another brilliant day of junior tennis, camaraderie and community spirit. Huge thanks to Careel Bay for hosting, and congratulations to the Collaroy juniors for securing a third consecutive title. We’re already looking forward to 2026 and keeping that trophy in the Collaroy cabinet!
Go Team! 🎾💙
