Over the recent October long weekend, Collaroy Tennis Club took on the world — quite literally — at the ITF Masters Tour event held at Macarthur Tennis, Leumeah, New South Wales.
In a spirited display reminiscent of the Laver Cup, four Collaroy members represented the Club with outstanding performances against an international field at the prestigious TSNSW State Championships MT700.
Our reigning Club Champion, Chris Gillis, captured the Men’s 55 Singles Title, overcoming fellow Aussie and current World No. 7, Martin Richards, 6–0, 6–1! This commanding win by Chris demonstrates the depth of Collaroy talent on the international Masters stage.

Michal Korecky claimed the Men’s 50 Singles Title, defeating Victorian Richard Dodson in the Final. Dodson represented Australia at the 2024 ITF Masters World Team Championships in Mexico. And he also won the Doubles with partner, former Collaroy member Francois Louw (now residing in Queensland). Michal's outstanding victory propelled him to a career-high World Ranking of No. 4 in the Men’s 50s — an incredible milestone and testament to his dedication and form.

Albin Kurti battled his way through to the Men’s 45 Singles Semi-Final, falling just short against the eventual event winner in a tightly contested match that showcased his skill and determination. Albin is currently World Ranked No. 22 in the Men’s 45’s.

And in one of her first major events, Karen Gillis was unlucky to face the top seed and eventual champion in an early round of the Women’s 55 Singles. Karen took a game off the title holder and gained valuable experience competing among the world’s best. Though new to tennis at this level, Karen is currently ranked in the Top 600 in the world for her age group - a fantastic effort!
From start to finish, this was an unforgettable weekend — one that highlighted Collaroy Tennis Club’s growing presence and competitive spirit on the global tennis scene.
Congratulations to all our players for their incredibly impressive achievements!
