2026 Club Championships - Open Events Schedule and Results Draws All current financial members are welcome and are encouraged to participate in this year's Club Championships, starting 5 September (Masters events). Open events are open to all standards . Have a go! For the Doubles events , the preliminary rounds are round-robin format , so there's plenty of tennis for all players. For the Singles events (with at least 12 entries), it’s a knock-out format . However, those who don't win their first-round get a chance to compete in a Plate event. You need to be available for the weekends allocated for your events, plus the days set for Semi-Finals and Finals . In special circumstances, if you and/or your partner are not available on one of the preliminary round days (only 1 day allowed) , add a note to your entry. The organisers will try (but cannot guarantee) to accommodate your request. Availability on Semi-Finals and Finals days is mandatory. As there are many matches that need to be scheduled for 100+ players, it would be appreciated if we can keep unavailability to a minimum. If you'd like to play doubles and don't have a partner , put 'Partner required' in your entry and we'll do our best to find a partner for you. All participants are expected to abide by the Club's Code of Behaviour and Tennis Australia Code of Behaviour . All events to have a minimum of four entries. Matches must commence on time, as per Schedule of Play. Three-minute warm up only before commencement of match. All matches will be played on weekends. No pre-arranged matches by competitors will occur during the week unless required to catch up due to bad weather. Washed out matches will be rescheduled by the Club Championship Committee. Forfeit rule will apply for any player not available to play after 10 minutes of scheduled match time. Late notification of unavailability may also result in a forfeit. The Schedule of Play will be published on the Club's website by the Thursday night, prior to the weekend’s play. Further details, if any, will be sent to all participants. We had the most entrants EVER and played no less than 259 matches in total! 93 of those were in the Open Singles events, with a further 136 Open Doubles matches and 30 Junior Matches. Incredible! We saw some of the best tennis ever played at our Club, the Finals showcasing an explosion of talented young players, while celebrating some evergreen veterans. Open and Junior Events Wheelchair Event 2024 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS Saturday, 14 December 2024 was Finals Day for the Open and Junior events at Collaroy Tennis Club. The originally scheduled date, a week earlier, was completely washed out, forcing the re-schedule. This year's Championships received a record number of participants in various events. New events were introduced - Ladies Plate Singles, Junior Mixed Doubles. In total, more than 200 matches were played! And Sunday, December 8, dawned clear and fine for the 2024 Wheelchair Championships and Official Opening of our newly re-surfaced Court 4. Check out the results and photos of the Championships. Open and Junior Events Wheelchair Event 2023 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS Saturday, 9 December 2023 was Finals Day for the Open and Junior events at Collaroy Tennis Club – and what a day it was! We had everything, including extreme heat, rain, lightning, thunder, a wonderful Christmas party, and of course, some brilliant and exciting tennis. And on Sunday, 29 October, we saw the inaugural Collaroy Tennis Club Wheelchair Championships take place under sunny skies. Book a Court Court hire at Collaroy Tennis Club is managed by our Coaching Partner, Evolve Tennis Academy. The Club offers 5 well-maintained synthetic grass courts and one acrylic-based hard court for wheelchair players, the training of top juniors and for those who simply prefer hitting on a hard court. All courts are fitted with ultra-bright, solar-powered LED lighting for night play. Court hire is available to the public at certain times and free-of-charge to members, at allocated times. COURT HIRE FOR EVERYONE Club Member or not, you can easily line up a hit with family or friends and hire a court at Collaroy Tennis Club. And for Wheelchair Tennis , we offer hire of sports wheelchairs and balls. Simply book online to check court availability and hire rates and reserve a time to suite your schedule. You will receive a confirmation email with your booking details and a link in case you need to cancel or re-schedule. Book a Court For Members, please read Guidelines before booking. COURT HIRE FOR MEMBERS Club Members can book a court free of charge for up to one hour’s play per day, at certain times on designated days. Members can also book a court for FREE for use at certain times on designated days. Availability for Free Court Bookings Monday to Friday - all day and night, when available (i.e. not already booked or being used for coaching, competition or by the Club) Saturday - mornings up to 12pm and from 6:30pm to 9pm, when available. Note: all courts on Saturday afternoon are reserved for organised social tennis and Club competitions/tournaments. If wanting to play after 6.30pm on Saturday and you’re only booking on the day, please book before 6pm so the lights can be switched on. Sunday - mornings up to 12pm, when available Sunday afternoon – no availability Note: 2 courts on Sunday afternoon (from 1pm to 6.30pm) are reserved exclusively for members’ organised social tennis. However, members can also just ‘turn up’ and use available courts, if any (for up to 1 hour), provided they have not already been booked. If playing singles, kindly offer to play doubles with arriving members. Please vacate the court the moment a booker turns up. To guarantee court availability, members are advised to book and pay for court hire. The following Rules have been established to ensure fairness for all members, the coaches and the local community, while maintaining our obligations under the Lease Agreement with Council (25% of court time must be made available for public access – i.e. approx. 4 hours per court per day). Free Court Booking Rules for Members All Bookings must be made online. To arrange FREE booking, enter the ‘Membership Code’ provided when you paid your membership fees. This code can also be found in the MEMBER-ONLY ACCESS page . Enter this under ‘Membership Number’ on the Booking Page. Please do not share this code with non-members. Free court hire is a members-only privilege. The code applies only if your booking is made 3 days or less in advance. Booking Limit of 1 court per day and only 1 hour of play per day , per member. If you’ve played for an hour and no-one else has booked your court, feel free to keep playing beyond the hour on that court or another available court. But please vacate the court the moment another booker turns up. ‘Block Bookings’ among members enabling the same player/s to book beyond an hour are not allowed , as this prevents other members and the general public from booking courts. In situations where a member who has already played for an hour for that day, wishes to play with a different member who has booked a court that same day, a $10 guest fee is applicable to the member who has already played. No permanent, regular bookings are allowed. If playing with non-Members, the cost for each guest is $10 payable online at time of booking Juniors must be accompanied by an adult at all times during play. Cancellations should be made no later than 12 hours before the time booked. If you can’t make your booking time, please cancel your booking ASAP to allow other members or the community the chance to book the court. You can also book and pay for courts outside the allocated ‘FREE Court Hire for Members’ times if the available times do not suit your schedule. We ask everyone to kindly respect these guidelines. Book a Court Social Tennis - Casual Court Use During Club organised social tennis times, designated courts are reserved exclusively for members participating in social tennis and cannot be booked. However, if there are spare courts available not being used for the organised social tennis (please always check with the Club Social Tennis Organiser), members may use the courts for a casual hit. If playing singles, kindly offer to play doubles with arriving members. If the spare courts are needed for organised social tennis, members using the courts for a casual hit will need to vacate the courts or can join in with the organised social tennis. In special circumstances, members may bring a non-member guest during Club-organised social tennis. A $10 fee is payable for each guest. Payment can be made to a Committee representative on the day. Tennis is committed to embracing diversity by making our sport welcoming, safe and inclusive for all. A welcoming and friendly place to play At the heart of it, Collaroy Tennis Club is simply, a great place to play. And it’s been that way for over 100 years. The Club launched in 1922 when the first balls were hit in friendship on two newly built loam courts. Membership was opened and a Committee elected. The Club has come a long way since then, with 4 more courts added (5 synthetic grass and one acrylic-based hard court for wheelchair players and the training of top juniors), a great clubhouse that opened in 1989 replacing the old shed, and a membership base that’s grown to over 200. SUSTAINABLE AND MODERN FACILITIES Collaroy Tennis Club is recognised as a progressive community club , well led by a 'can do' management committee that has overseen more than half a million dollars’ worth of improvements in the last decade. These include the addition of solar panels and a solar battery (courtesy of Belle Property), LED lighting on all courts , wheelchair-access, new inclusive bathrooms/shower facilities (thank you Northern Beaches Council), new court surfaces (5 synthetic grass and one acrylic-based hard court) as required and permanent seating installed on each court. Guiding Principles 100 YEAR CELEBRATION In 2022, Collaroy Tennis Club celebrated its Centenary – 100 years of providing tennis to the local community. It was an opportunity to look back and be proud of how far we’ve come and to share stories and engage with those who have helped shape the Club – past and present members, volunteers and the wider community. And while we reflected upon and celebrated our past, we now look towards the future, as we continue to cement our place as the best tennis club on the Northern Beaches and beyond. Our Centenary was celebrated with a Commemorative event attended by local dignitaries and a big Community Open Day called Racquets at the Reef that attracted hundreds of locals, celebrities and top level players. We conducted a raffle raising funds to upgrade facilities, along with a 100 Year Anniversary Party for past and current members and supporting partners. Photos and Events

Australian Pride in Sport Festival SATURDAY | 22 MARCH 2025 The inaugural Australian Pride in Sport Festival is a nationwide calendar of events to promote inclusivity, celebrate diversity and encourage LGBTQ+ participation in sports across Australia. And Collaroy Tennis Club is proud to be chosen to host our own Pride in Sport Festival twilight event on Saturday, March 22 from 4pm . A real carnival atmosphere will prevail at the Club with lots of fun activities for all! The event will also help raise funds for our community partner, Lifeline Northern Beaches . SUNDAY | 12 APRIL 2026 PRESENTED BY Celebrating service, sport and community Collaroy Tennis Club , together with our event partner, RSL LifeCare - Northern Beaches Veteran Wellbeing Centre , is proud to host Return Serve. This free event in the lead up to ANZAC Day, shows our gratitude to all those who have served or are currently serving in the Australian Defence Force, as well as their families, for everything they’ve given to protect our freedoms. We see Return Serve as one small step in helping veterans to connect and thrive in their local community, using our wonderful sport as a catalyst for wellbeing and social connection. The event is proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Dee Why RSL Sub-Branch. OUR CHANCE TO RETURN SERVE This event was inspired specifically by one of our own, much-loved Club members, who himself is a Veteran , having served in Vietnam. It’s wonderful to see him enjoying the sport he loves in a warm, welcoming and friendly environment. The war was raging in Vietnam and in 1971, Bob was called up for National Service with the Australian Army. “The call up was very hard for me to digest”, says Bob. “I had just been offered a professional contract with World Championship Tennis and was playing Davis Cup overseas. Three days after winning all three matches I played in that Davis Cup Tie, I was ready to tour the world for the next six months. Then a telegram arrived. ‘Please return to Australia immediately for 2 years of National Service’. After dreaming and training for years to be a professional, to be honest, the news was devastating. 55 years ago… doesn't seem possible. However, as a result of that National Service, to this day I have the utmost respect for our Military and all our Veterans.” After two years of National Service, Bob returned to professional tennis, achieving a career-high ranking of World No. 16. Bob still serves the community as Northern Beaches Councillor for Narrabeen Ward. He has been awarded the Australian Defence Medal, the Australian Sports Medal and the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). Bob will be present at Collaroy Tennis Club for Return Serve on April 12.
